I know I've never been a Kansas supporter through my life of living in that state, but I gots ta give the home team some props. They beat Arizona and are now in the FINAL FOUR!!! Since Iowa State never even made the bracket, I can only support Kansas. I also hope that Oklahoma gets its ass STOMPED by SOMEONE. They need to go down. That's all there is to it. They rule football (unfortunately). They can't have basketball too. Why be greedy?

I went ice skating for the first time ever tonight! It was a hell of a lot of fun. I wish I could have started it when I was a wee little kid. Then I'd be a pro now instead of barely being able to keep my balance.

I also saw Van Wilder tonight. I just have three words to sum up that entire movie. Dog Jizz Sandwiches. That will probably be the only scene I remember, and it is burned into my permanent memory now.

The official results are in for the National Forecasting Contest. I'm in 9th overall out of 722 participants (tied for 4th, actually, but they put the upperclassmen ahead of me), and I'm in 1st for the Freshman/Sophomore group, which is about 200 or so people. That means I get a plaque! YAY!

OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess I can't tell you what I'm so excited about without explaining a little first. I'm participating in a national weather forcasting contest for universities around the country. Professors, grad students, and undergrads submit forcasts for a designated city and receive points for every degree they are off and 4 points for every precip category they are off. So, basically it's like golf. Lowest score wins. Today was the last day for Burlington, VT, our target city for this period, so "official" results will be tallied after the weekend. Texas A&M University puts out unofficial results daily based on schools submitting their forecast info to them. It's not exactly right, but it's a fairly good peek into how the official results will turn out.

So, what's the exciting part? Check out these results!!! You'll have to scroll down a little bit to get to individual forecaster scores, but look for hmoser (that's me). Then, look how many forecasters are on that list. That's EVERYONE, professors and grads included. Then you'll see what I'm excited about! (!!!!!!!!!!)

Placings and scores after yesterday's official temps and precip came in

Hypothetical placings and scores for today based on what they THINK the official temps and precip will be. This one is the final day, so this is a good indicator of what the entire two-week placing will be.

Again, let me reiterate:
OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!!!!!!!!

I am a weather DEMON! Right now I'm participating in this national forecasting contest for Meteorology majors. Basically, I have to predict the high temp, low temp, and precipitation for the next day for a designated city. We're doing Fargo, North Dakota right now, and I am kicking ASS! I'm ranked 69th out of some 900 students participating, and that's including upperclassmen, grad students, AND professors. I need my props now, thanks.
