What the hell? The Iowa-Iowa State game is being televised here on the Outdoor Life Network, and the Oklahoma game isn't on at all? Weird.

EDIT: HOLY SHIT! ISU WON!! I don't know whether to be thrilled with how the Cyclones played or wonder what the hell is wrong with the Hawkeyes. :p

Well, the Cyclones didn't play particularly well, but the Hawkeyes were awful in their first game and beat up on a truly terrible team, so it's not like a game like this was incomprehensible, particularly given Kirk Ferentz's thankful inability to beat Iowa State on a regular basis. Bret Meyer just didn't turn the ball over as much (the one turnover damn near killed us) and Iowa dug themselves a hole in the first half, where they just looked totally baffled between the 30 yard lines.

Iowa State got victimized by two teams that had quarterbacks who could run. They even got victimized by Iowa's QB when he ran, even though he's not particularly mobile. But against a conventional quarterback, our defense seems to be relatively decent. The running game still has a long way to go though if we want to be able to put games away.

It is interesting that Iowa seems to have a pattern of struggling in games against Iowa State. Maybe they've never been that great of a team and are just vastly overrated every year. Weren't they ranked number 8 or something when ISU beat them last year?

They "didn't play particularly well"? They played a whole helluva lot better than the previous two games, which I somehow managed to sit through in their entirety. Compared to teams like Nebraska, they didn't play particularly well, true ... but compared to the Cyclones of the previous two weeks, they really tightened up.

I'm actually kind of glad our field goals weren't touchdowns... it sure made the game exciting.

It was on the Versus network, which for some reason, I get. The game wasn't that spectacular.

I agree, it wasn't great, but I'm assuming it's an improvement over the last few games if they actually managed to win this one (I didn't see the Kent State or UNI game). And for some reason I thought Iowa was still supposed to be a good team. What I saw of them in the 4th quarter was not impressive at all.

I don't think either team is living up to the pre-season hype. Iowa's played a couple of cupcake teams the first two, and I don't know about Kent State...UNI is really fired up this season and very determined to get back to the national championship...but our game is tonight at South Dakota State, so we'll see how that goes...

Yeah, Illinois won today, rather handily. That makes 2 in a row. There's clearly something wrong with the world ;)
