This must be the summer of relocation or something. It seems like half or more of you guys are moving or have moved, and that even includes me! It's odd that this is a transition period of sorts for so many people at the same time. And then the ones that aren't moving are either changing schools or changing jobs.

If you want to hear about something totally strange, [livejournal.com profile] weirdtab had a dream last night that she was stranded in Pratt, Kansas in the middle of the night. Ok, that's my hometown. She lives in Maryland and I don't think has ever been to Kansas in her life. We've never even met. Furthermore, Pratt is not some kind of metropolis that everyone has heard of. It's a dinky little town of 7,000 people out in the middle of nowhere. She must have been playing internet stalker and was looking at my Facebook profile recently or something. Well, it's amusing in any case.

Add me to the list! I'm moving at the end of August, actually, my roommates are moving me, I'll be in Costa Rica (oh lucky timing, no moving day for me). It's a good thing my roommates love me.

I already told you! Not creepy! It was just the name I gave the place -- unless there's like an abandoned gas station that turns into a house and is next to a crazy irridescent river, kinda on a little cliff and it's where they land planes at like 1 am for no apparent reason.

I mean, seriously, what else is in Kansas? NOT EVEN MOST OF KANSAS CITY! (...right?)

Well...I lived in a house out in the country that was on a little cliff overlooking a river/creek. There wasn't anything spectacular about the creek, though, except that I almost stepped on a snake there once.

That only really puts us on the map for the 0.5% of the Kansas population involved in the beauty pageant industry and all the middling journalists who would rather be dead than interviewing beauty queens for a week.

For meteorologists, Pratt is apparently a hip place to be because, well, as my synoptics/mesoscale professor put it, it's dryline heaven for chasers. We saw our share of tornado warnings. In fact, when I was living in other parts of Kansas, I always wished I lived in Kiowa or Pratt county because they ALWAYS seemed to get the good storms.

yeah, thats like the one time my hometown would EVER get hit by a tornado (and mind you its a freakin F3 in upstate NEW YORK) im a half hour away and miss the whole damn storm.

on the flip side of things, we were a half hour away from actually driving in it, and that was only because a person i was with wanted to buy a tshirt.

Oh, and it's the full-blown Miss Kansas Pageant, not the junior one. I don't know where the junior (I think they call it pre-teen?) one is.
