I have a complaint about Iowa State University. It does not have a class in Fortran 90 or any Fortran language for that matter. A LOT of the science world prefers F90 over C++ (which is what our computer science classes are for) at the moment, so it's kind of a disservice to the science majors in this school to not offer a way for us to learn this programming language. There is Aerospace Engineering 160 I suppose, but they learn old school Fortran in that class (plus another language which I had never really dealt with before) and then apply it to Aero E situations. It could be slightly helpful I suppose, since F77 and F90 compilers will accept basic Fortran code, but there are a lot of differences between Fortran and F90.
Eh well, I guess if all of us meteorology majors band together and help each other out, we too can learn such a fundamental thing that our peers in the workplace probably learned in their first semester as freshmen. I hate being limited by my education.
